El Pueblo is the official publication of the All City Employees Benefits Service Association. It is the second-oldest newspaper in Los Angeles, and the oldest existing Los Angeles newspaper exclusively for City employees.
Spanning the spectrum of all departments from LAPD to City Council to Public Works to DWP, El Pueblo reaches over 30,000 City of Los Angeles employees every month. No other publication reaches as many City employees.
Established first as a City Employees Magazine, El Pueblo was founded in 1923. At its earliest beginnings it was a news outlet for City of Los Angeles employees, delivering political updates, information about changes within the City, and a way for employees to communicate.
Renamed El Pueblo by the 1940s, the news magazine became the official paper of the All City Employees Benefits Service Association. The name “El Pueblo” comes from the same Spanish phrase that helped to name the city: “El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles sobre El Rio de la Porciuncula.” (Translation: The city of the queen of the angels on the River Porciúncula).
As the All City Employees Benefits Services Association (ACEBSA) has continued to grow, so has El Pueblo.
