Los Angeles Workers Discounts | History of LA Workers Benefits | All City Employee Benefits – ACEBSA
Employee Benefits History.
All City Employee Benefits Services Association is an organization that provides services that are advantageous to many workers. Our organization has provided valuable services to workers for over 85 years, including Los Angeles workers discounts, valuable financial information and tuition reimbursements. From its inception, All City Employee Benefits Services Association has provided city workers many benefits.
All City Employee Benefits Services Association was founded as a small organization in 1923. The history of LA workers benefits dates back to this time period. One of the first services that we provided was lobbying for necessary retirement funds and salary increases for city employees. We also founded the El Publo city employee newspaper to link city employees from different buildings and divisions together. The newspaper has been a valuable part of the history of LA workers benefits by providing information on local bonds and electoral options.
Today, our organization continues this important work and also strives to create new initiatives that can benefit the city workers of LA. Among the Los Angeles workers discounts are programs that provide movie theater discounts, discounted theme park tickets, sporting events tickets and discounted gift cards. The education of the city workers of Los Angeles is very important to our organization and we provide programs for tuition reimbursement and a Tom Bradley scholarship to help city workers achieve their educational goals. We also provide free life insurance up to $1,000 in value, free notary service, cell phone discounts and advertising in the El Pueblo newspaper.
At ACEBSA we strive to help city workers in every aspect of their lives. We provide opportunities to include legal services, financial services and travel planning services with your membership. We also provide referrals to a variety of insurance providers. We have also instituted the All City Employees Assistant Plan which assists city employees who are struggling financially due to a prolonged illness or a catastrophic occurrence.
ACESBA continues to grow and thrive with each passing year. Our mission is to continue to provide benefits to city employees to help them enjoy the necessities of life at an affordable price and at their convenience. We continuously request input from city employees so that we can continue to provide services that will provide a positive impact on city employees. ACESBA is a charitable organization and relies on donations and membership payments to continue to provide great services to current and retired Los Angeles city employees.
The
All City Employee Benefits Services Association has been providing Los
Angeles City employees services for more than 85 years.
Founded in 1923, ACEBSA
was originally called the All City Employees Association. Its focus in
the early years was to keep City of Los Angeles employees informed,
updated, and motivated to perform their job duties.
As the foremost Los Angeles City employee association, it worked on behalf of LA City
employees by lobbying for retirement funds and salary increases. One of
its other main responsibilities was publishing what is now the El
Pueblo city employee newspaper.
The first edition of the
newspaper was published in 1927 and was simply called The Los Angeles
City Employee. By the 1940s the paper adopted its current name of El
Pueblo.
The newspaper offered LA City employees a way to stay in touch with other LA City departments with fun and sometimes gossipy news columns. It also served a political purpose by telling city employees how to vote on bonds and other electoral initiatives.
Editors
wrote many pieces focused around instilling loyalty and hard work in
members. They also penned opinion columns—something El Pueblo has moved
away from in the past 10-15 years.
In 1977 the All City
Employees Association split into two entities, with the All City
Employee Benefits Services Association claiming most of the assets
including El Pueblo newspaper.
Today ACEBSA
offers Los Angeles City Employees tuition reimbursements, discounts at
movie theaters and theme parks, free $1,000 life insurance policy, an
annual Tom Bradley Scholarship, free notary service, travel discounts,
El Pueblo newspaper advertising, cell phone discounts, and more.
